Hi {{first name | friend}},
Today’s a good day because in the next hour I’m welcoming 42 new students into Human Skill School 🥳
I’m working with these bright and brilliant people who are taking their career development into their own hands, recognising that human skills are just as important as technical skills.
One of the first things I’ve asked students to do in preparation for the programme is to get their unique skill stack down on paper.
Because one thing that matters most for your career right now is paying attention to the skills you’re building, as we’ve moved into the skills economy.
I speak to countless employers and have noticed they’re all asking a variation of the same question: How can we equip people with the skills they really need to achieve the business’ objectives?
In other words, individual skills are your new currency. This skills-based approach means companies are hiring based on what you’re capable of, rather than what you studied, where your university ranks in the league tables or the string of job titles you previously held.
So, what does this mean for you?
Well, the people who will get the best opportunities are the ones who have the strongest skill stack. And the strength of yours comes from combining your technical expertise with your unique experiences and your human skills, creating a unique skill stack that’s both distinctive and durable.
This is the only pre-recorded part of Human Skill School, so I’d love to share it with you too.
By the end of this video, you’ll have:
A clear picture of your current skill stack
An understanding of how your skills combine to create your unique value
Ways of articulating your value which you can use when putting yourself forward for career opportunities
✍️ Grab a pen and paper and press play
See you next Monday,
Hayley
